Easy scapegoat. Jewish religion and culture is "different," so it's easy to say "aha, look at these people doing things YOU don't do and YOU don't understand, they must be up to no good!"

This happens to all minorities, people of color (particularly BIPOC and immigrants of color), LGBT, women, religious minorities, you name it. It sucks. There is still so much more work to be done in terms of global tolerance, and the US isn't being a great example right now (which is really important, as a world power.)
